Jun Kaneko

Biography Born in Nagoya in 1942, Jun Kaneko studied painting as an adolescent. At 21 years of age, he moved to LA where he came into contact with contemporary western ceramic works through Fred Marer’s extensive collection. After completing his education, Jun pursued experimentation creating ceramic pieces that challenged the physical limitations of the material itself and using colour to convey sensorial experiences. His monolithic series titled dangos granted Jun Kaneko recognition worldwide through public and private commissions and institutional collections such as the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and Japan’s Wakayama Museum of Modern Art.
